The Highlight Reel presents This Week's Recap for September 2nd

THIS WEEK’S RECAP…

It is good to be writing again. The Highlight Reel went on an unscheduled sabbatical last week after some events beyond my control preoccupied my attention. On Saturday, August 25th, I took my mother to the emergency room in Eden, NC at around 10PM. She was in extreme discomfort. She had an abscess form near her rectum that needed medical attention. She underwent surgery on the abscess Sunday and remained in the hospital until Tuesday. That, added to my current workload from Greensboro College, kept me away from The Highlight Reel for a week.

However, my mother is fine now thankfully. I have nothing but the most sincere gratitude for everything that helped during this trying time. My sister, Tonya, and Aunt Deborah and Uncle Roy all helped to make sure I stayed in shape for classes while the well wishes of other family, friends, and even Michelle Beadle (she sent a direct message on Twitter that was amazing) meant the world to me because I believe they helped speed my mother’s road to recovery. In addition, schoolwork is back under control so I believe it is time to write once again.

Superstar of the Week: Clint Eastwood



I am not very big into politics. Honestly, I have so little faith in our country’s government at this point in time that those who do not know me any better might consider me anti-American.  With that said, I still tuned into the Republican National Convention nightly to listen in on a few of the key speakers. The majority of the speeches were forgettable. Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan came off like a serial killer while Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney was just pompous and douchey enough to be presidential material. The real star of the entire convention though was a man not even running for office. He is only getting his name out there to promote Trouble with the Curve.

In a surprise speech before Mitt Romney accepted the Republican nomination, legendary actor Clint Eastwood came out to give a brief endorsement of Romney. Scheduled to speak for three minutes, Eastwood spoke for 11 minutes in the one of the best celebrity meltdowns ever on live television. During this speech, Eastwood spoke to an empty chair for minutes in a conversation with President Barack Obama. He told jokes and interacted with the crowd in a way that was less “engaging Republican endorser” and more “crazy dementia-riddled grandpa in need of his meds.” Still, it made for amazing television.

A new social media trend, Eastwooding, is all the rage on Twitter and Facebook. Plus, Clint Eastwood is the talk of the town for the first time in ages. That is not a bad thing with a new movie, Trouble with the Curve, hitting theaters this month. Congrats to Clint Eastwood for stealing the show at the Republican National Convention.

Jerk of the Week: Lance Armstrong

On August 23rd, Lance Armstrong announced that he was ending his fight against the USADA instead of continuing to fight against allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his illustrious bicycling career. In the following days, the French Cycling Federation stripped Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles while Armstrong’s image took a hit from which it will never recover. Despite allegations and rumors clouding him for years, Armstrong never admitted guilt or defeat until now. In the court of public opinion, Lance Armstrong’s refusal to continue fighting these allegations symbolizes an admission of guilt. Lance Armstrong cheated and lied about it for over a decade.

I admit that I was one of many who cheered for Lance Armstrong for years. I admired his accomplishments. In all honesty, I still respect his accomplishments because Lance Armstrong won seven Tour de France races after overcoming life-threatening cancer. The fact that he cheated is somewhat nullified by the fact that cycling is so drug-filled and PED loaded that the only clean cyclists finish in the low 200s in these events. My main problem with Lance Armstrong is that, despite ending his defense, he still refuses to admit that he cheated. Just admit it, Lance. Don’t admit it with a passive aggressive refusal to fight for your innocence anymore. Admit it outright.

TNA Wrestling - What If AJ Styles Was the Father?



I love TNA Wrestling. I love everything about that company right now. Well, let me rephrase that. I love almost everything about that company. I still wish Spike TV and TNA agreed to air Impact Wrestling live every Thursday night. I wish that Spike TV would give TNA another program - maybe an hour-long show for the weekend - so TNA’s huge roster would have a better chance to get exposure to all of the talent. I wish Brooke Hogan were not a part of TNA Wrestling in any form or fashion. Despite her “graceful” moves, porno movie acting abilities, and mongoloid appearance, I just cannot find myself a fan of her work. However, as bad as Brooke is, she rarely appears on Impact despite being in charge of the Knockouts division so I cannot in good conscious say she is the worst thing in TNA Wrestling. Not when this woman is still around…



This is Claire Lynch. I do not want to get into the entire saga of Claire Lynch because, frankly, I might have a stroke trying to comprehend it all. Here is the gist.

AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels were involved in an outstanding feud based on Daniels’ professional jealousy of Styles. Daniels used some photographs of Styles to turn Frankie Kazarian against Styles as well. The photographs in question showed AJ Styles and TNA owner Dixie Carter in compromising positions. Styles and Carter were not having an affair though; they were helping a mutual friend get off drugs. That friend was Claire Lynch. Daniels said the story was not over though and Lynch, pregnant, revealed to the world that AJ Styles was the father of her unborn child. She showed photographs of the night of conception on Impact while AJ Styles continued to deny his involvement with Lynch. Last week on Impact, Styles pinned Daniels in a Bound for Glory Series match to also win the right to a paternity test.

With the paternity test upcoming, the culmination of this angle is approaching. Styles will be exonerated. Daniels and Kazarian will look like despicable heels. Lynch will fade off into wrestling obscurity. Moreover, the angle will become forgotten wrestlecrap by everyone except fans like me who remember even the worst wrestling angles while being unable to recall important things like basic math skills or the names of family members. I am one of many fans glad to see this angle ending. From the moment TNA introduced Claire Lynch into the storyline, everything became painful to watch except for the Styles-Daniels matches. Perhaps it was because the biggest role Lynch, a Florida actress, had before this angle was as Olive Oyl in Universal Studios…

Look at her. She is just watching a match but she looks like she could snap at anytime and murder everyone in the Impact Zone. Now, if she were to snap and go into a Ken Shamrock “freak out” circa 1997, I would be sad about the news that Claire Lynch is leaving us. She would replace Mickie James and Trish Stratus as my favorite woman in wrestling history with a Shamrock “snap.”

With the end of this angle approaching though, I have noticed a few people actually criticizing TNA Wrestling for “rushing” the angle. Yes, even when TNA sees something is not working and chooses to end it rather than using the WWE’s idea of forcing it down fans’ throats anyway or dropping it instantly without resolution, TNA is not doing things right. The people who have that mindset need to be shot. Shot at close range. Shot at close range in the face. What more could one want with this angle? Seriously, what do these people want?

I guess they want AJ Styles named the father. So, what if AJ Styles was the father of this baby? I guess the following would happen.

Claire Lynch goes into labor and has the child backstage at Bound for Glory in October. Instead of finishing his match against Christopher Daniels, because these two must fight forever, Styles runs backstage for the birth. Styles is given the choice of staying with Lynch and their child, a baby boy affectionately named Albatross Jizanthapus Styles, or returning home to his wife and three children that everyone knows about because of Styles’ side tattoo. In wrestling’s version of Sophie’s Choice, Styles returns to his family at home. Albatross finds guidance, leadership, and an affinity for appletinis from Daniels. Daniels files for custody of Albatross Jizanthapus Styles and wins custody of him by hiring the same lawyer he used to win custody of Frankie Kazarian. Styles, angered by the courtroom defeat, turns heel and assaults his lawyer, Joseph Park. Over the next couple of years, Albatross Jizanthapus Styles grows into an adorable little career killer. AJ wants his son back though. Eventually, with the blessing of his wife and family, AJ challenges Daniels to a Custody of Albatross Ladder match at Slammiversary. AJ Styles wins the match and custody of little Albatross. Then, Albatross hits Styles with a low blow and runs to Serg Salinas, husband of TNA owner Dixie Carter. Serg reveals that he knew AJ was sleeping with Dixie Carter so he slept with Claire Lynch and framed AJ. As fans in the Impact Zone throw garbage (WWE scripts) at the ring, Vince Russo then walks onto the entrance stage from backstage and basks in the glory of the worst angle in the history of professional wrestling.

I guess the TNA haters of the world would probably find a way to crap on that too. Wrestling fans are just never happy.

Superstar of the Week: Taylor Swift

On Monday, Taylor Swift announced her fourth studio release, Red, would hit stores on October 22nd. In addition, the debut single from that album, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” become available for purchase online. While official numbers will not come out until the middle of next week, early estimates are that “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” will be the biggest debut for any single in her illustrious career. According to Billboard, the single is on track for 600,000 downloads in seven days; potentially selling the most downloads ever in a single week. The current record holder for fastest selling single by a female artist is Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” which sold 448,000 in its first week while all-time record holder is Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” which sold 636,000 copies in 2009. Still, Swift would land in second place all-time if the early estimates come to fruition.

Regardless of the exact numbers for the single, this will be the biggest debut week for a single in Taylor Swift’s career. Considering the number of albums sold and successful singles released, this is a tremendous accomplishment for a young woman who continues to see her career reach new heights.

Jerk of the Week: Melky Cabrera

Earlier this week, Major League Baseball suspended San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera 50 games after testing positive for high levels of testosterone suggesting usage of performance-enhancing drugs. At the time of his suspension, Cabrera led the National League in hits with 159 and was second in the NL with a .346 batting average. In the midst of a career year, Cabrera was leading the San Francisco Giants to a possible playoff appearance and building his stock with his contract up at the end of the season. However, Cabrera failed a pee test and is now out for the remainder of the 2012 season. This is NOT the end of the story though.

On Sunday, The New York Daily News reported that Cabrera and his associates spent $10,000 on a website for a fake product that Cabrera said he used mistakenly to cause the positive result that led to his suspension. Not only did Cabrera lie after getting caught cheating, Cabrera created an elaborate lie with false products and websites advertising said faux supplements. Now, this elaborate lie failed miserably and Major League Baseball discovered the lie within hours of Cabrera submitting it as part of his suspension appeal. But, at least he tried something sneaky and devious. If you are going to cheat the integrity of the game, you might as well go all out.

Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez may have thrown the 23rd Perfect Game in Major League Baseball history this week. However, Melky Cabrera stole King Felix’s thunder with one of the most disappointing drug test failures in recent MLB history. It is not the failure though that steals the show; it is the ridiculous lie from Cabrera and associates that the sports world will not forget anytime soon.

A Very Special Finger Wag of Shame to… Danica Patrick

I have come a long way in my opinion of Danica Patrick. Initially enamored with Patrick on the Indy Car circuit, Patrick lost me as a fan when she said that “her brand” was her first priority while winning races was second. Her jump to the cash cow that is NASCAR was the ultimate in exposure for “her brand.” Running in the Nationwide Series in 2012, Patrick has not won anything. If she did, we would all know about it as a Patrick victory would be the only thing to mirror a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. victory in terms of coverage by the media. Still, as much as I do not care for Patrick, I respect her. Anyone, male or female, who can drive a car that fast and participate in a sport that dangerous deserves respect. I still find people, especially chauvinistic pigs, who claim a woman has no business on a race track without a reason other than “because she’s a woman and women ain’t never run good in ’nem cars” to be MORONS. With that said, Patrick did nothing to eliminate the bad stereotypes surrounding women drivers at the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal on Saturday.

What is it with women and shoes?

A fan threw a shoe on the track during the race. Danica Patrick, at the time, was dominating the event and was leading a line of cars when she came across the shoe. For some reason, Patrick’s female urge to have as many shoes as possible took control and she hit the lone shoe at well over 140 mph. The shoe damaged some internal parts of the car and Patrick’s Montreal dominance was over. Why, Danica, why? It was not a pretty shoe. You didn’t even have two shoes out there - just the one. Why did you have to go after the shoe? Why continue to promote that stereotype that women go crazy for shoes? Even with a potential in in your grasp, you went for the shoe. It is just disappointing, Danica. Shoes are not everything.

For the record, the above was complete sarcasm. Danica was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the shoe landed on the track. If anything, the finger wag of shame goes to the mother canucker who arrogantly tossed a shoe onto a racetrack as cars sped by at over 140 mph. I hope that the idiot guilty of this crime was apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (which in Canada means he or she could not visit Tim Horton’s for a week). Shameful act, Canada. You all go under the bus for one shoe-tosser’s antics.

World Wrestling Entertainment - The Hypocrisy Fueling The PG Era of WWE

Hypocrisy - Noun  - a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.

I hate hypocrites. I loathe those who save one thing and do another; the people who preach one value and do the exact thing they are preaching against. I hate hypocrites because they generally believe in their own position and then do what they preach against so blindly that they are too stupid to see their own hypocrisy. It is infuriating to be around a hypocrite. There is no larger group of hypocrites in the entertainment world than those running World Wrestling Entertainment into the ground on a weekly basis.

Brian Jossie - formerly Abraham Washington in WWE

This is Brian Jossie. For over four years, Jossie worked for WWE as Abraham Washington. His career was uneventful. He hosted a talk show called The Abraham Washington Show on ECW in 2010. He wrestled briefly in Florida Championship Wrestling in 2011. Then, under the shortened moniker of AW, Jossie started managing the tag team of Darren Young and Titus O’Neil in 2012. Jossie’s uneventful career reached a new peak on July 30th, 2012 during a match between Kofi Kingston and Titus O’Neil. Wearing a live microphone, Jossie said the following about O’Neil, “Titus O’Neil is like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado. He’s unstoppable!”



On August 10th, World Wrestling Entertainment fired Jossie because of his inappropriate comment on television. WWE stated how they are a “PG company” and reiterated that comments of that nature were no longer a part of their programming. In the aftermath of this, Jossie took to Twitter to vent his frustrations with the hypocrisy of World Wrestling Entertainment. He also addressed how the PG initiative of WWE is solely because of Linda McMahon’s desire to become a senator in Connecticut. The political aspirations of WWE owner Vince McMahon’s wife have turned the company that once prided itself on Attitude into a three-hour commercial for toys, social media, and D-List celebrities every Monday night. There are no more controversial moments or colorful language that could be deemed as harassment and bullying because the WWE’s association with fellow PG entity The Creative Coalition. Instead of promoting that behavior, WWE requests viewers “Be A Star.”



While that ad is wonderful and I am positive that the Be A Star campaign is a wonderful campaign, their association with World Wrestling Entertainment makes it a joke because World Wrestling Entertainment is fueled by bullying and harassment. In their current PG-mode, World Wrestling Entertainment runs on hypocrisy. While I could write a book about the various examples of harassment and bullying on WWE television that would give Tolstoy’s War and Peace a run for its money in terms of length, I am going to limit the examples here to three. These examples of harassment occurred on Monday Night RAW in 2012 and all involved WWE management, Hollywood actors, or WWE Superstars with more power in WWE than Jossie.



On March 12th, Hollywood actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made jokes about John Cena menstruating, having lady parts, wanting a rectal exam, and being “fruity” repeatedly in a segment on RAW. While a dated Kobe Bryant joke is a fire-able offense, WWE is perfectly fine with a Hollywood star referring to the face of the company as a woman or a homosexual. That is perfectly fine with WWE and their PG initiative. Wait. It is not fine. It is disgusting and inappropriate, especially if you continue to preach the idea of “being a star” with an anti-bullying campaign.

WWE Diva & resident fat joke subject Vickie Guerrero

I guess the most warped of WWE sycophant can justify WWE allowing those homophobic remarks by saying that “It was The Rock” or, more accurately, “It wuz Da Rock!!!” However, how can the remarks by Jerry Lawler, John Cena, and countless others about Vickie Guerrero be justified? On a weekly basis, WWE talents belittle Guerrero about her weight despite Guerrero losing over 60 pounds since her career in WWE started in 2007. Guerrero is not a large woman at all. While she is not my cup of tea facially, her body is something to enjoy. Yet, she must be ridiculed because she is large in comparison to the anorexic Divas of WWE who walk (or skip) around backstage. This same company while in the midst of their PG initiative in 2009 and 2010, referred to 125-pound Mickie James as Piggy James. Weight jokes and harassment about appearance must be perfectly acceptable though because WWE would never stoop to the level of a bully. Again, wrong. This is another example of WWE and the hypocritical nature they conduct themselves.



Using WWE’s mindset, homophobic remarks and harassing remarks about body image are fine though. That means mocking the disabled is also perfectly acceptable behavior. On the June 11th episode of Monday Night RAW, Vince McMahon continued his abuse of announcer Jim Ross with a less-than-flattering impression of Ross. Take note of McMahon completing his Ross impression by contorting his face to capture the facial paralysis Ross suffers because of Bell’s palsy. Jim Ross, a victim of Bell’s palsy, has had his facial paralysis mocked on WWE television by Vince McMahon multiple times with each one more tasteless than the previous. Mocking someone’s appearance and physical defect is definitely an act that falls in the PG initiative of WWE. It is clearly the act of someone following the morals preached by the Be A Star campaign so relentlessly promoted on WWE television. Right? No, this act is the act of a man who is a bully and a hypocrite.

World Wrestling Entertainment hides behind the Be A Star campaign in hopes that voters will look at their company as a family-friendly company when her Democratic opposition in Connecticut mentions Linda McMahon’s association to the company. They hide behind the Be A Star campaign when promoting their product to advertisers as the company scratches out another lucrative deal. The WWE hides behind a façade of political correctness and anti-bullying campaigns because the truth is that World Wrestling Entertainment is a company of bullies. From mocking talents on-screen to having their current champion CM Punk use Twitter to take shots at other companies (calling TNA an Indy promotion) and other sports (belittling Nike for their endorsement deal with UFC star Jon Jones), WWE preaches the virtues of treating everyone fairly while committing the sins they preach against through ruthless and merciless mockery and bullying.

International Wrestling Podcast - Justice for A.W.

I leave you with this audio clip from Gerald Murphy. Gerald is a young man from Ireland who, alongside Brian McNail, hosts the International Wrestling Podcast (visit them here). While I do not listen to every one because I am not a podcast guy, I do enjoy their work from time to time. On Tuesday, Gerald posted a phone call he made to World Wrestling Entertainment regarding the termination of Brian Jossie a.k.a. Abraham Washington. That call was the motivation for this blog entry. That phone call showed that the hypocrisy, which fuels World Wrestling Entertainment, does not merely fuel the television side of things; it fuels every aspect of the company. Everyone from the biggest star on television to the smallest employee hiding behind a headset in a call center in Stamford, Connecticut promote the idea of anti-bullying while conducting himself or herself as a bully. The excuses made by this WWE employee, as well as the avoidance of addressing Vince McMahon’s actions, are glowing examples of the hypocrisy which fuel World Wrestling Entertainment. This employee might as well told Gerald “I can do what I want. Be A Star and watch WWE or you are a fat, ugly, boy with lady parts” because that is the WWE way. There is nothing - I repeat NOTHING - about World Wrestling Entertainment that is family-friendly because of the constant cloud of hypocrisy hovering overhead. Until WWE stops lying to viewers and eliminates the hypocrisy, the company will reek of the same stench of evil, heartless lies as that coming from WWE chairman of the board / ultimate hypocrite: Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

The Highlight Reel presents This Week's (Belated) Recap for August 12th

THIS WEEK’S RECAP…

Thanks to internet problems beyond my control, I was without the internet for the better part of three days. I missed TNA’s Hardcore Justice pay-per-view, the breaking news of Mitt Romney’s VP announcement, the rise and fall of Chad Johnson in Miami, the end of the 2012 Olympics online, Rory McIlroy’s dominant PGA Championship victory, and so many other tremendous stories over the weekend. In addition, it led to a delay with this week’s recap. However, I am back online (hopefully to stay) and ready to write. Here is the weekly recap of the best and worst according to me.

Superstar of the Week: Team USA including members Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards-Ross, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay, Dawn Harper, Kellie Wells, Ashton Eaton, Trey Hardee, Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Jennifer Kessy, April Ross, Aly Raisman, Claressa Shields, Jordan Burroughs, Jake Varner, Team USA men’s basketball team, Team USA women’s basketball team, Team USA women’s soccer team, and the Team USA women’s water polo team

The Games of the XXX Olympiad in London have concluded. For this sports fan, one of the great joys of being a sports fan is watching the fortnight in which the greatest athletes in the world display their talents in battles with patriotism and national pride fueling them as much as the individual glory of gold, silver, and bronze medals. I love the Olympics. Any sports fan who does not love the Olympics is lying to you when he or she refers to himself or herself as a sports fan. The 2012 Olympic Games were nothing short of outstanding. Even with NBC showing a majority of the events on a tape delay, the drama and the excitement remained. Plus, on a personal note, it was so cool to watch Michelle Beadle crush life on the biggest stage of her career as an Olympic host for NBC and NBC Sports Network.

I love her. But, I digress…

Despite trailing China at the end of the first week, the United States ended the Olympics with the most total medals. Team USA ended the games with 104 medals - 46 gold, 29 silver, and 29 bronze. China ended with 88 medals (38 gold) and Russia finished third in the total medal count with 82 medals (24 gold). Host nation Great Britain finished fourth in the total medal count with 65 medals (29 gold).

US Track & Field star Allyson Felix

In the second week of the 2012 Olympics, Team USA was outstanding in track and field, dominant on the basketball court, achieved legendary success on the beach, and obtained redemption on the pitch. While the world watched in awe as Jamaican Usain Bolt shattered world records, Sanya Richards-Ross and Allyson Felix both won multiple gold medals for Team USA. Richards-Ross won gold in the 400m and women’s 4 x 400m relay while Felix took home gold in the 200m, women’s 4 x 100m relay, and women’s 4 x 400m relay. Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin both left with silver in the men’s 4 x 100m relay while Gatlin also earned a bronze in the 100m. Despite tons of hype for her, Team USA poster-child Lolo Jones failed miserably with a fourth in the 100m hurdles. Instead, Dawn Harper brought home silver and Kellie Wells took bronze in the same event. Among, the other big winners in track and field, Ashton Eaton won gold and Trey Hardee took silver in the men’s decathlon. The legendary beach volleyball careers of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings ended with a third consecutive gold medal after they defeated fellow Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in the gold medal match. In gymnastics, Aly Raisman won the women’s individual floor exercises while Team USA was successful in combative sports with Claressa Shields winning gold in middleweight boxing, Jordan Burroughs winning gold in 74kg freestyle wrestling, and Jake Varner winning gold in 96kg freestyle wrestling.

US Soccer star Alex Morgan

Team USA continued their legendary domination on the basketball court with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams winning gold. LeBron James had the first triple-double in Olympic history while Kevin Durant’s star grew on an international level for the men while Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings, and Diana Taurasi all won their third gold medals for the women. Hope Solo had a handful of incredible saves while Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd scored huge goals on the US Women’s Team’s way to winning gold in London. In the finals, the US women defeated Japan, 2-1, to not only earn the gold but also gain a semblance of redemption after their loss to Japan in the 2011 World Cup. In addition, the women’s water polo team won gold for the US in London.

While the Games of the XXX Olympiad are now over, many great moments in American sports took place over the last two weeks. For all of the records shattered, medals won, triumphs celebrated, and defeats mourned, one thing remained true throughout the games: there is no bigger sporting event in the world that unifies us as a people than the Olympics. I cannot wait until the winter games of Sochi, Russia in 2014.

Jerk of the Week: Kevin Nash

I met Kevin Nash in April 2003 in Roanoke, Virginia at a gas station. He was a wonderful guy. He chatted for a few minutes and was very friendly despite being in a hurry to get to the Roanoke Civic Center for a show. I say all of this because the wrestling world normally looks at Kevin Nash as one of the most egotistical jerks in the history of the business. Last week, Nash gave wrestling fans Exhibit 9,203 in the case of Fans vs. Kevin Nash with controversial remarks made in an interview with Grantland.com. While I met a nice guy in Roanoke nine years ago, I have to call the dude making these remarks a major league tool.

Kevin Nash said that the late Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero were responsible for the death of the wrestling business as part of a rant on “vanilla midgets” coming from the mouth of a bitter has-been. “When (Chris) Benoit and (Eddie) Guerrero hugged (at the end of WrestleMania XX), that was the end of the business,” Nash told Grantland.com. “Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the NWO or the Hogan era? You put two guys that were great workers that were the same height as the referees, and I’m sorry, man.” Nash addressed two of WWE’s current main event stars - CM Punk and Daniel Bryan - by calling them “internet heroes.” Nash added, “They are not bigger than life. I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt.”

When Kevin Nash booked WCW in the late 1990s, Nash referred to small technically sound wrestlers as “vanilla midgets.” Legends like Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Lance Storm, and Dean Malenko were among those who were “vanilla midgets” in Kevin Nash’s eyes. The reality is that Nash looks at everyone who is not 6’8” and 295 pounds as a “vanilla midget.” Nash would also say this about his friend Shawn Michaels and about legends like Bret Hart, Ted DiBiase, Curt Hennig, Roddy Piper, and practically every other performer in the business that outdrew Nash in terms of revenue while outperforming Nash in terms of in-ring performance. Kevin Nash is a sad, petty man who bashes everyone smaller than him because Nash realizes that size is not everything and the smaller wrestlers all tend to have something Nash did not: talent. Kevin Nash’s time has come and gone. He now seems to live on bit roles in movies and the desire for the spotlight that he never truly deserved in 1995 thrust upon him again. While he helped Triple H kill CM Punk’s momentum and then feuded with The Game in 2011, the truth is that Kevin Nash’s mouth and jealous nature are the only things getting him a reaction in the wrestling business in 2012.
